  Course:      CIS 120 - IT Essentials  
 
  Catalog Desc:  
(No prerequisite.) This course introduces computer hardware and software as well as operating systems, networking concepts, mobile devices, IT security, and troubleshooting. The online course materials assist students in developing the skills necessary to work as a technician in the field of IT. Preparation for CompTIA's A+ certification exam is included. (CSU)
 
 
  Expected Outcomes:  
1. Assemble components based on customer requirements.
2. Install, configure and maintain devices, PCs and software for end users.
3. Demonstrate the basics of networking and security.
4. Diagnose, resolve and document common hardware and software issues.
5. Demonstrate the basics of virtualization, desktop imaging, and deployment.
 
 
  Critical Thinking:  
Students will be presented with both conceptual and physical 
problems to solve though active integration of ideas presented in 
the class as well as attempt to predict new relationships and 
consequences of activities and ideas.

Create and document proper methods of installation based on 
logical evaluation of procedures presented in lectures. 

- Analyze the troubleshoot processes for initial description to 
final solution. 

- Predict outcomes of new configurations attempted through testing
